tight shorts and long boards... backtrack to the early days of surfing as it hit california.  far from america’s problem children; really surfers were off the drugs & in the water. about to hit the pop culture height of cool, gidget was about to hit the big screen & the beach boys pier presured “everybody’s learning how”. yet, before the world wanted to fall in love with california girls, the state was divided by hate and racial tension.
